Brendan is six shots behind the lead held by Tiger Woods but is only four behind the joint second placed Padraig Harrington and Y.E.Yang.
"I didn't have my A game with me today but I hung in there for a respectable 1 over," said Brendan not long after his round. "I couldn't find the fairway with my tee shots and this course is pretty demanding from the fairway never mind the rough."
"If I can start hitting the fairways on the par fives I have a chance of reaching them but today I was only able to birdie one."
After a bogey at the opening hole, Brendan dropped another at the 5th but bounced back with a birdie at the short par five 6th. At the par four 10th Brendan missed the green with his approach and found the front left bunker but holed that for birdie and he was back to where he had started the day.
At the demanding par three 13th which measures close to 250 yards from the back tees, Brendan would take a double bogey and at that point the round could go either way. He picked up a birdie at the reachable par four 14th however and dug deep over the closing holes to finish with 73.

On a day where his game was not at its best, Brendan has done well to hang in to produce a round of 73 at the PGA Championship at Hazeltine National and at 2 under he has kept himself in touch with contention.
