Despite being penalised one shot when Brendan's caddy's sunglasses fell from his visor onto the ball while reading a putt, Brendan has finished with a round of 69 at the Woodone Open near Hiroshima and finds himself in 32nd place at 1 under, some ten shots behind the leader but only six shots from second place. "I had just birdied the 12th hole (my third) and was feeling good about the way that round was developing and Tom (Brendan's caddy Tom Watson) was over the putt of about 20 feet for birdie at the next hole looking at it and the sunnies fell on the ball and it moved about a foot. It was an automatic penalty and poor old Tom was so upset with himself." "I played really well for most of the day and it was much better than yesterday when I struggled with distance control all day." "I played with Toru Tanigiuchi today and he made everything he looked at and played well generally. He will be very hard to beat for everyone this week." |
