Starting the final round three shots behind the 17 year old Ishikawa, Brendan drew within one at the turn, the pair trading blows until the 15th where a bogey by Ishikawa had them level at 16 under. It would all come down to the last when Ishikawa's second finished 8 or so feet from the flag and when Brendan pulled his birdie putt from slightly longer range it left the door open for for Ishikawa.
The putt would drop for Ishikawa's fourth Japan Golf Tour victory but the 15 million yen (A$191,000) Brendan earned for finishing runner up moved him to third on the Japan Golf Tour money list.
Brendan will now fly home to Canberra for a few days before heading off to the Hazeltine Golf Club in Minneapolis for the USPGA Championship where he has a start courtesy of his world ranking which will improve further from his current 75th as a result of today's performance.
We hope to chat with Brendan in the next few hours.

Brendan has finished second to teenage Japanese superstar Ryo Ishikwa at the Sun Chlorella event in Hokkaido after the pair had fought a tooth and nail battle over the final nine holes of the event at the Otaru Country Club.
