"With my back being the way it has and my game being not 100% as a result, I feel I have been playing for the wrong reasons over the last few weeks and have decided to take this and next week off and will fly to Japan a little early and work on getting things in order for the last few events in Japan," said Brendan from his Dallas home.
"I will work with my caddy there Tom who knows my game well and understands the things that Alex Mercer (Brendan's coach) and I have worked on."
"I feel that while my game is not all that far off, the setbacls with injury have meant that I have been unable to build momentum. You need to be 100% fit to compete at this level and hopefully I can get back to that level soon."
There are seven events between the Japan Open and the last event of the season in Japan. If he plays well Brendan would be eligible for the end of season the Golf Nippon Series which is effectively the Japan Golf Tour Championship and is a field limited to the top 25 or so money winners. Brendan is currently in 18th position courtesy of some good early season form there which included a victory at the Tsuruya Open.
Brendan also expects to be playing in the Australian PGA Championship at the Hyatt Regency Coolum in early December.

Brendan has now decided to miss this week's Southern Farm Bureau Classic in Madison, Mississippi and instead he will take an additional week away from tournament play before heading to Japan for his first event there, the Japan Open beginning on October 12th.
