Despite bouncing back in round two of the Championship by Lexus, Brendan has missed the cut by one shot and will now head home to Canberra for one week. He will return to play the Sammy Cup event in Hokkaido in two weeks time.
An opening round of 77 yesterday appeared to leave Brendan with little hope of making the cut but by the time he had made the turn in today's second round he was on target. At that point he was four under for the day and with a solid back nine appearing as if he might have done enough to sneak inside the cutline. As it turned out the cut would drift inwards by a few players and agonisingly Brendan missed by one shot. He finished with a round of 68. It has been a unsuccessful trip to Japan for this three event campaign, finishing 31st at the Mizuno Open, withdrawing from last week's Toshin tournament and now the missed cut. It was just the second missed cut in Japan in nearly three years for Brendan. |
