Despite a dropped shot at his last hole of the day Brendan heads into the weekend only two behind the leaders, Hiroyuki Fujita and Korean Han Lee.
Brendan bookended his round with bogeys at the 1st and 18th holes but in between there was a lot of good stuff, five birdies on the demanding layout supporting that claim.
"I played very well from tee to green but have putted horrendously in the first couple of rounds," said Brendan tonight. "The course has been quite receptive thus far but if these greens dry out then I think there will be some big numbers posted over the weekend."
Brendan will play 30 minutes ahead of the final pairing tomorrow as he seeks to improve on his previous best finish at the Japan Open when 3rd last year.

Brendan is very well placed after 36 holes of the Japan Golf Open at the Musashi Country Club in the outskirts of Tokyo, just two shots off the pace after a second round of 70.
