![]() Brendan has moved into contention at the J.B. Were Masters at the Victoria Golf Club, his second round of 68 leaving him just two behind the leader, Matthew Giles, when he finished his round. Brendan played in the perfect morning conditions after battling the tougher afternoon conditions yesterday and began with two quick birdies to move within two of overnight leader Ian Poulter's lead. Brendan dropped two shots before the turn when he took three to get down from just off the edge of the 14th then three putted the par five 17th.
A birdie at the 18th (his 9th) got him moving forward again and when he birdied his 10th and 12th holes he was hot on the heels of the leaders. A dropped shot at one of the more difficult holes on the course, the 5th, had him three from the lead but he birdied the final hole of the day, after a poor drive was followed by a delightful pitch to 6 feet, and he finished at 5 under for the tournament. "It was a bit up and down and missed a couple of putts in the middle of the round but overall I am happy where I am," said Brendan after his round.
