Despite one or two unforced errors in the opening two rounds of the Diamond Cup in Saitama, Brendan finds himself in a share of 9th position and although five shots from the lead he is just two shots out of second position.
Brendan played late on day one and made a hot start to the tournament with three birdies in his first five holes before struggling through the middle of his round in the difficult afternooon conditions. He eventually finished with a solid opening round of two under 70.
Today, playing early, he again opened with a birdie at the first hole but although he picked up two more birdies through the opening nine holes he was only 1 under for the day and three under for the tournament as he headed to the 10th tee. Another birdie at the par five 10th moved him to 4 under for the tournament and although Korean Kyung tae Kim, who was playing in the group behind was building a big lead, Brendan was well enough placed. Brendan was however unable to birdie either of the final two par fives including his last hole, the 9th, where he found the water.
"I got a bit unlucky with the draw," said Brendan after his round. "It blew early today and just when we were finishing that wind died right off. I feel I played well enough overall but am not making anything on the greens and hit one in the water at the last and also had an air swing at one stage."
