A new tournament and a new venue await Brendan this week when he plays the Toshin Golf Tournament in Lakewood at the Lakewood Golf Club on the Shima Peninsula about an 90 minutes south of Nagoya in Mie Prefecture. The tournament carries a purse of only 60 million yen or $A750,000 but with another event next week in which Brendan wishes to play he stays over to play this event and next week's Lexus Championship near Tokyo. Only one other tournament on the Japan Golf Tour schedule carries a smaller purse but the event provides an opportunity for Brendan to build continuity in his game. It is also signficant that it is a new event especially given the lack of such events being introduced to the schedule. Brendan played the course today and expressed his concerns. "It is certainly not the normal standard of that of a Japan Golf Tour event. I feel like I am playing quite well but just hope the layout rewards good play." Brendan has an early tee time on day one. |
