After his disastrous opening round things were not looking promising but a decision to switch to an older style of driver paid dividends. "I had a shocking day with the driver today," said Brendan after his opening round. "I couldn't hit it anywhere near the fairway and that makes this course virtually impossible to play. I had some ball positioning problems as I was getting the ball too far back in my stance and had no consistency whatsoever driving the ball. There is nothing to lose tomorrow . I will use another driver and hope that I've ironed out my alignment problems."
It seemed to work. With a Callaway ERC Hyper driver in the bag, Brendan was clearly much more consistent from the tee. An opening birdie on day two got things headed in the right direction and his even par round of 72 on the tough and demanding Sagimahara layout was enough to get him to the weekend, albeit narrowly.
Although Brendan has very little chance of contending in the tournament he has made a very positive move and is at least back on track after a break of three weeks from the Tour.
