Three late bogies dropped Brendan from serious contention in today's second of the Mitsubishi Diamond Cup in Mito but even at seven over par he is not yet totally out of the event.

Brendan will look back on a disastrous quadruple bogey on his 8th hole of round one as the hole that has done most damage in his opening two rounds of the event but despite rounds of 75 and 74 he is still only eight shots from the second round leader, Toru Taniguchi.

At four over for the tournament as he made the turn in round two, Brendan was within striking distance of the leaders. On a cold and wet day, however, where only two players were able to break par, he struggled over the closing nine holes to finish with a round of 74.
