Brendan stays close to Katayama

japan_eventBrendan is just one behind the leader Shingo Katayama after the second round of the Japan Golf Open at the Koga Golf Club in Fukuoka, his second round of 2 over par 73 completing his first 36 holes in 1 under par on the demanding layout.

Katayama and Brendan are the only two players under par with brilliant 17 year old Ryo Ishikawa alone in third place at even par.

"I was really happy with the way I played today from tee to green today," said Brendan after his round. "The greens were not good this afternoon however. I had a lot of good chances but in the main I was just trying to two putt as the greens were rather bumpy and the footprints very pronounced. Still I am happy with my position. Tomorrow Shingo and I will play together."

"With Ryo Ishikawa in close pursuit there will be a huge crowd there tomorrow, only about half a dozen cheering for me," said Brendan jokingly referring to the mass hysteria surrounding the young Japanese superstar.
