Brendan wins Crowns

Brendan has birdied the first extra hole of a playoff with Korea's I.J. Jang to win the Crowns Tournament in Nagoya after a tight battle for much of the final round.

Brendan started the final day with a two shot lead over Jang and Sung-Yoon Kim but by the fifth hole Jang had joined him at the top of the leaderboard. Both Jang and Brendan would trade the lead over the final nine holes, the Korean rejoining Brendan in the lead when he birdied the par three 17th.

The last would be crucial as Brendan missed the green there but was able to save par and so to the playoff where Brendan secured the birdie and the win with a brilliant approach to six or so feet at the par four 18th. In pouring rain Brendan made the putt.

It was Brendan's 10th Japan Golf Tour victory and his third in a playoff in five attempts.

The victory was worth ¥24 million (A$270,000) and moves Brendan to the top of the 2011 Japan Golf Tour money list at the completion of the opening three events of the season.

Brendan is now on his way back to Canberra for a one week break before the Japan PGA Championship in Hyogo Prefecture.
