"It was encouraging," said Brendan after his round. "I was a dissappointed with the double I took at the third when I was between clubs and short sided myself then three putted and when I took a soft bogey form the middle of the fairway at the last but overall it was pleasing. I picked up five birdies so given my recent concerns I am happy. The weather earlier in the day when we played was perhaps even a little more difficult than later as it was quite breezy this morning."
"My back held up ok as I took some pain killers and my task now is to make the cut so I can get more tournament rounds under my belt. I am last off tomorrow. Today I played with the tournament leader Nicholas Thompson and he really had a day out. He birdied six of his first seven holes then go on a roller coaster from there before an eagle and birdie late in his round."
The cut appears as if it will be around even par or one over at the completion of the second round.
