Out in the afternoon groups on day one, Brendan made a promising start with an early birdie at the par five 11th (his second hole of the day) but bogeys at the 13th and 14th had him at one over and he would slip to two over when he bogeyed the 4th.
Three birdies in his next three holes however had him at one under and a nice par save from 5 feet at the last consolidated what had been a good late recovery.
"I'm happy with the finish, said Brendan after his round. "It was a funny sort of day.I didn't feel like I had my best stuff but it was nice to finish the day like I did. Hopefully the greens will be just that much better early tomorrow and I can take advantage of my early tee time."
