Strong weekend for Brendan at Doral
Written by Bruce Young
Tuesday, 25 March 2008

japan_golf_tour Brendan has produced a strong finish at the WGC - CA Championship at the Doral Resort and Spa, adding a final round of 67 to his third round of 66 to eventually finish at 4 under par and in a share of 40th place.

It was a remarkable comeback from Brendan after what had been a most disappointing start for him in the opening two rounds. Brendan's iron play especially over the weekend was vastly improved and with just one bogey in the final 36 holes, he will be buoyed by his showing in his second World Golf Champoionship event of the year.

Brendan returned to the course at 8.30 am on Monday (US time) along with most of the field to complete his final round after reaching five under when darkness halted play yesterday. He had the par five 8th (his 17th) to possibly move to six under but he was unable to do so and even though he set up a very good birdie chance from 12 feet at his final hole of the week, he missed and settled for 67.

"I played great over the weekend," said Brendan en-route back to Canberra. "I used a new driver this week (Callaway FT-5) 10.5 degree) and it felt great. My driving accuracy stats don't make good reading but I think the guy doing the stats must have confused me with my playing partners!!!! I hardly missed a fairway on the weekend."

Brendan earns US$52,000 and will now head back to Canberra for three weeks before playing in the season opening Japan Golf Tour's Token Homemate Cup on April 17th.
