Brendan had only just survived the rigours of the Blue Monster at Doral when he was about to be put through another demanding experience on his way back to Australia.
Brendan was on Qantas Flight 12 from Los Angeles yesterday when, after a cockpit alarm, the pilot was forced to abort the takeoff despite the fact that the plane's nose was already off the ground.
Brendan who had had little sleep in the previous 24 hours due to the delays at the WGC event and a rushed trip to LA had already fallen asleep when the plane was taxing but heard the words brace brace as the plane began to reach takeoff speed. Three tires blew as the plane was put into reverse thrust and ground to a halt.
Fire engines surrounded the plane as it waited on an adjacent runaway for half an hour so so before the passengers were disembarked and taken to a hotel with their onward journey delayed until the next morning.
Brendan eventually left Los Angeles around midday on Tuesday. |
